When love transcends borders, it creates stories worth telling. This is the tale of Laura from Colombia and Ted from Toronto, who chose the chic ambiance of Yorkville's Sassafraz for their intimate cocktail-style wedding. No formalities of a sit-down dinner; just a casual, cozy gathering of their closest friends and family, celebrating their unique love.

The day began with the city as their backdrop, specifically the beautiful, historic campus of the University of Toronto. Laura and Ted decided to make their wedding day a photographic journey through the city they both call home. From the iconic Victoria College to the hidden gems of the campus gardens, each location we captured was a testament to their journey together, blending their cultures in the most picturesque way.

A walk through the city to Sassafraz, the ceremony was as heartfelt as it was simple. Held in the elegant dining room, it was surrounded by the ambiance of one of Toronto's most beloved spots. The exchange of vows was in both English and Spanish, reflecting Laura's Colombian heritage and Ted's Canadian roots, a beautiful melding of two worlds. The two stood in front of a wooden triangle altar they carefully crafted together; just one of the many DIY projects they have worked on in the last year together.

Eschewing the traditional sit-down dinner for a cocktail-style reception allowed for a more fluid, intimate mingling of guests. The atmosphere was set with soft lighting, a live band, and the clinking of glasses as friends and family shared stories and laughter.

What made Laura and Ted's wedding special was not just the setting but the spirit of unity it represented. Friends and family from both sides of the border mixed effortlessly, celebrating not just the union of two people but of two cultures. The evening was filled with toasts in different languages, and an overall sense of joy in the shared moments. The band carried the rest of the night away with friends and family dancing. Weddings like this remind you that you don't always have to tick all the boxes. Make your wedding yours, and do what makes you happy.

Congrats Laura and Tim!
